Ms. Mary Budwee
Mary Budwee is one of Fr John Langtry’s former parishioners and friends. Below is a testimony of the impact that Fr John Langtry, a retired priest, has made on her life.
I’ve known Fr John since I was 8 years old. I first met him at St Oliver’s at Harris Park as an Assistant Priest. He’s a lovely, humble priest and a great man. He has helped me through my life and my faith in so many ways. I can honestly say that in all my life I’ve managed to go to Mass every weekend and during the week, and that’s been such a great help.
Fr John and all our priests do so much. You have to really be with them, day in and day out, to appreciate and know the work that they do. I’ve been there when he has said Mass and done baptisms, weddings and funerals. Fr John even buried my dear Dad and Uncle. But they do so much more than that, it’s just unbelievable.
Every time that I’ve ever had to ring, he’s always been there. I’ve been with him when others have called, and I’ve watched him drop everything just to be with those families. It’s like that with all my parish priests. No matter when you want them or need them, they are always there and their support is enormous.
I’m very grateful to Fr John and his 58 years of priesthood.
As of late he has had a number of operations and hospital visits, all of which were made possible with the help of the Priests’ Retirement Foundation. As Father said, he wouldn’t know where he’d be or who he’d be without the help of the Priests’ Retirement Foundation.
Priests like Fr John have given their whole lives to serve us and now it’s time for us to look after them. They urgently need our prayers and our support. We have to cherish them and thank them for what they’ve done, and we can do that through the Priest’s Retirement Foundation.
