A Beneficiary of Your Support
On 4th November 2018, the Cardinal Gilroy Society, a group of donors who have committed a gift to the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney in their Will, were invited to lunch with Sydney’s seminarians at the Good Shepherd Seminary in Homebush.
The Seminary of the Good Shepherd is a place to prepare young men to be priests. It is a time for intense formation, not just in philosophical and theological study, but in human virtues, social graces and spiritual values. the formation aims to bring these young men into the world of the Church’s rich human and spiritual tradition.
Fr Danny Meagher, rector of the Seminary, celebrated a Solemn Mass for the donors. After the Mass the guests were taken on a tour around the grounds of the Seminary, a beneficiary of the generous support you provide. Later on, the guests were invited to lunch in their dining hall, giving them an opportunity to speak with the seminarians about their training at the Seminary and their call to this special vocation.
The Seminary is an extremely multicultural place. Between staff and students, there are over 14 nationalities currently represented, with more than nine dioceses and religious institutes amongst its residents.
