Meet Michael Mendieta, the new Director of the Development and Fundraising Office

Hi, although I’ve only recently started in the role (well, relatively – July 2018), I was previously the Founding Director of the Catholic Foundation in the Diocese of Parramatta. Prior that, I worked in various roles, in Fundraising and Marketing, across higher education, social service agencies and faith-based works.

This direction, in not-for-profit, is very different to my previous work at Westpac, where I worked as a manager in Business Banking for several years. This is why I am excited to be part of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney.

It is no secret our Church is currently under some negative press. However, there is plenty of good also being done by you, and your support, in the Church which also needs promoting.

I look forward to not only further developing and raising funds for the many great initiatives of the Church – whether it be helping the homeless, tending to the sick or disabled, proclaiming the Gospel, preserving our St Mary’s Cathedral or supporting our retired priests. I also look forward to raising awareness of our Church’s positive impact, transforming lives in our local community.

In addition, we also run two great programs from our office – Rome Pilgrimages and the Sydney Catholic Business Network. These events allow us to further engage our friends and offer an experience to deepen and enrich one’s faith.

Thank you for reading and I hope we can share a cuppa soon.

Michael Mendieta,

Director, Development and Fundraising Office
Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney
