DOMUS AUSTRALIA

Domus Australia was established by the Catholic Church in Australia, undergoing a 3 year restauration before it was formally opened by Pope Benedict XVI in October 2011. The historic building sits above Roman ruins and the careful restoration uncovered several examples of ruins that are now on display.

Offering a peaceful, warm and friendly environment, Domus Australia provides a place to rest as well as a religious and cultural experience to pilgrims. Many of them refer to this unique accommodation as their ‘home in Rome’.

Domus Australia has its own beautifully restored chapel, the Chapel of St Peter Chanel, which is located within the complex. Mass in English is celebrated every day for guests and tourists visiting.
