The Lights of Christmas 2021

The Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney is delighted to announce that it will be holding the annual “Lights of Christmas” this year, commencing on 9th December and concluding on 25th December.

The Lights of Christmas started in 2010 and has become one of the City’s premier and free annual Christmas events. Each year, the event attracts over 500,000 people from across New South Wales to witness the stunning light show projected onto the St Mary’s Cathedral façade.

In addition to guest presenters, including His Grace Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP, the show also includes musical performances on the Cathedral stairs. Given the challenging year we’ve experienced throughout lock-down, this is a wonderful opportunity to bring family and friends into the city to experience Christmas in, quite literally, a new light. The event will also be COVID safe. An additional feature on display is the life sized nativity scene, allowing visitors to pay homage and to pray before the baby Jesus.
